Basic Communication Training Goals

By re-learning the key elements of communication–listening and communicating–participants will practice how to build rapport in class. In doing so, they will develop effective communication skills.

Training Objectives

1. Understand the essence of communication

Understand the purpose of communication, and what type of mindset is required first to build good relationships.

2. Learn how to apply relationship-building skills

Smooth communication requires three skills: "building relationships," "listening," and "communicating". Participants will learn what these three skills are and how to use them.

3. Through in-class practice, participants will gain skills to facilitate effective communication.

By understanding and practicing how to apply the three skills, participants will be able to put them to use immediately.

  • Hospitality vocabulary [turn negative into positive/Making commands to making request]
5. How to communicate according to the person [Goal] Check if you are communicating in an appropriate manner

  • How to give appropriate feedback
  • How to reject people nicely [apologize first/use verbal cushion/positive expressions or alternative ideas]

6. Online Communication [Goal] How to communicate remotely with colleagues
  • How to deal with a lack of communication
  • Conduct face to face meetings [AM and PM meetings/1-on-1 meetings/always turn on the camera if possible/don't talk excessively and continuously]
  • Build trust while working remotely [Be considerate of the other person/take extra care when communicating over text/quick responsiveness]
  • Make sure everyone is aware of how to behave in a team [give leeway/make sure if certain tasks are really necessary]
